Ship's Wheel from the "Virginia"--Four feet in diameter, made of hard wood and brass. Original equipment of "Virginia" which was built in 1903 in Bordentown, New Jersey. When the "Virginia" retired and was stripped and sunk off Chincoteaque Island, Eugene W. Jett Sr. bought the entire pilot's cabin. After his death, his Son Gene Jett aquired this wheel.
The trailboard is above the wheel, on the wall in the Boat Shop. The Virginia's registration certificate is in the Reed Gallery in the Museum and a watercolor of the vessel as a derelict is in the Butler House.
