Description

Ship's Bell from the USS Yacona (AOG 45), a Coastal Oiler of the Mettawee Class. She was sold after WWII, in 1947, to the Gulf Oil Co and employed by Gulf until sold to a Colombian Firm in 1974. She disappeared from the Lloyds Registry in 1992, presumed scrapped. She was Skippered by a member of the Gilbert S White Family of Lancaster County, VA. Gilbert S White built the Deadrise Deckboat, Elva C in 1922. The Elva C is in the Reedville Fishermen's Museum Fleet and on the National Historic Registry.
