The "Long Island" was built in 1912 in Rockland, ME, and was later owned by Douglas Co., Reedville, VA. She was a sister boat to the "East Hampton," later taken in the Navy, where it worked as patrol boat, mine sweeper, ice breaker and temporary lightship off Charleston. Later sold to Douglas Co., Reedville, VA; sank off Delaware Caper during a 1936 storm while fishing for Hayes at Lewes, DE. Lost among many crewmen was Capt. Romey George of Foxwell, VA.Collection
