The "Winfield S. Cahill" was built in 1912 in Solomons, MD, for Eubank Tankard, Kilmarnock, F/V Winfield S Cahill, of the Eubank Tankard Co, out of Kilmarnock. Built by M M Davis in 1912 in Solomons, MD. The US Navy took her in 1917 (USS Cahill: SP-493) and she sailed to France as part of Squadron 4, Division 10, Patrol Froce Atlantic. The served as mine sweeper out of Brest, France, and was decommissioned in 1919.
She was deemed unseaworthy to make passage back to US, was sold to Greek firm and used as a tugboat until stricken in 1937 or 1938.Collection
