Forgotten Beacons is the first book to record the lost lighthouses and lightships on the Chesapeake Bay. With over 80 lighthouse stations, 5 depots, and 15 lightship stations, the Chesapeake was the most complex lighthouse district in the United States. This is the history of the Bay's aids to navigation and includes information and illustrations on every ligthhouse and lightship station, every depot and the major tenders that served the Bay. Forgotten Beacons is written by Linda Turbyville, author of Bay Beacons, featuring the still-standing lighthouses on the Bay, and Patrick Hornberger, long-time editor and publisher of books and magazines on the Chesapeake region.
