General Notes

Note

IBM's first color monitor for their PC & XT series computers, the 5153 was sold for use with the original CGA standard and is capable of displaying 16 color digital RGB. Although the Color Graphics Adapter standard dates to 1981, this monitor wasn't introduced until 1983. The other option for getting color graphics from a PC with CGA was to use composite video. Although the picture quality wasn't as sharp, using composite allowed early PCs to display more colors on screen at once than was possible with RGB.
