The Harris Papers are filed chronologically within five subject groups: Subgroup 1: Land divisions, 1640-1750 (290 items) Subgroup 2: Estate and shipping, 1750-1800 (545 items) Subgroup 3: Household accounts and letters, 1800-1860 (410 items) Subgroup 4: Ephemera and undated family papers (250 items) Subgroup 5: Justice of the Peace warrents and writs of Exeter, R.I. 1790-1830 (290 items). The most important of the pre-1700 documents were published in 1902 in volume 10 of Rhode Island Historical Society Collections.
