Mandolin made of wood with inlaid decoration including some tortoise shell and mother of pearl and ivory keys. Has 8 intact strings. Label visible inside says "The Washburn Best in the World" No. 19924 '" "Highest Award at World's Columbian Exposition Chicago 1893 - Gold medal and diploma of Honor Antwerp 1894." Slight wear from use but no inlay missing and finish almost like new. Probably dates to c. 1900 and used by Edgar Zobel. Also includes leather mandolin case. Handle broken, leather deteriorating but case still solid with clasps intact. In November 2010 mandolin on Pickard House piano top with case on floor below it.
