Description

Book, Music. 10 5/8 " x 13 5/8" black book with leather back binding and corners. Contains a variety of sheet music pieces probably originally separate and bound into this book. The first piece is "Abraham Lincoln's Funeral March" composed by C. H. Bach, Milwaukee 1865. Some pieces have earlier dates. Collection intact but pages discolored and water stained. Cover is very worn but still completely intact. Has diamond shaped red leather label on front cover with gold lettering "Josie" Book belonged to Josie Dellinger (Mrs W. W. Davy) b. in 1848 and died in Ripon 20 Oct. 1946 at the age of 98. She was 3 months old when she moved to Ripon. Music was her life long interest. At 17 she and three other Ripon girls attended a musical normal school in Salem, Connecticut. She married William Davy in 1874. He ran a jewelry store. See the Pedrick Genealogy under William and Josephine Davy. The donor of the book received it from Rosemary Dellinger Garner, Great Niece of Josie Dellinger Davy.
