Description

Columbia Grafonola Phonograph, record player Manufacturer, Columbia Gramophone Company 1914-1920 This model is an internal horn alternative to the company’s external horn disc phonographs. Adjustable louvers open up on the front of the player for sound. Between 1901 and 1920, record players would become part of most households, whether rich, middle class, or poor. Models came in a range of prices from cheap to deluxe. The original cost of this model was $50 dollars, but some custom models of the period cost as much as $2,100 dollars. This model is driven by a spring motor. Phonographs started to function on electricity around the 1920s.
