Description

This 86" x 66" quilt is white cotton with gold colored embroidery signatures in 48 circles divided into 16 triangles. Four of the circles have just one name spread out in each triangle. The quilt is all hand sewn. The signatures are those of Ripon members of St. Peter's Church and include entire families. The quilt was made by the church's "Women's Circle" in 1903 as a fund raiser, according to a note found with the quilt. A few of the names included are Avis Mooney, Mary Evans, George Middleton and Anna Horner. The edges, fabric and embroidery are intact but yellowed and faded. Names are recorded on sheets with diagram kept in Donor's File for exhibit purposes. Quilt is stored with the Quilt Collection at Pickard House. 2016 Note: Says on quilt "Ladies Society". 2017 Note: A1216: Added to National Quilt Index 2/4/2017 by WI Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, Cedarburg, WI.
