German Parlor Guitar by an unknown maker. Has a handwritten note taped to the guitar which says "O.E.H (Herman) Zobel, self-taught, played this guitar in the early 1870s. In later years he would play and sing for his children. A favorite song was the humorous ditty 'Where there's a will there's a way.'" The handwriting has been clearly identified as Lillian Zobel's, who was the daughter of O.E.H. Zobel and part of the Zobel family donors. Has 5 intact wire strings and one is a broken gut string. Soiled and finish shows long use and wear. Not known if it functional. To be stored in Pickard House Artifact Storage Room with other musical instruments when not on display.
