Description

Suona, wood and brass. Double reed instrument. The Suona is a traditional chinese woodwind instrument. It is a double-reed aerophone made of a brass bell and a conical wood body. It is known for its unmistakable piercing, bright, and high-pitched sound. It was typically played at traditional Chinese weddings, funerals, dances, and military functions. All members of the Zobel family played musical instruments, and some played several different one. It is unknown as to why this instrument became part of the family collection.
