Description

Vietnam era U.S. Army military uniform. This uniform is ‘Type III’ model, as indicated by the two shirt chest pockets with pointed pocket flaps and button cuffs at the wrist. It was traditional for the jacket to not be tucked in and to have the sleeves rolled up. The uniform belonged to former Brandon resident, Sgt. First Class Ronald H. Reilly who was a bronze star recipient for meritorious achievement against hostile forces, as well as a recipient of two purple hearts and battle ribbons issued by the South Vietnam government. Sgt. Reilly enlisted in April of 1970 and died on July 16, 1970, in Vietnam of non-hostile causes.
