Stained glass piece made out of antique glassware and scraps.Context
Marquart took an administrative job at Ripon College. In the spring as the snow melted she'd walk along the creek on the campus which boarders Linley Lane and collect old bottles, eyeglass lenses, and other items. She also collected antique glass jar lids from antique stores and other scraps of glass, beads,
glassware, and jewelry that she had found. Marquart started incorporating her finds into her stained glass pieces.Lexicon

After graduating from the University of lowa in 1972 with a degree in art history and art education, Marquart came to Ripon as elementary art teacher for grades K-5. Marquart enjoyed participating and teaching various art forms at the Ripon Community Art Center. Within a year of moving to Ripon she met and married a Ripon native. When her husband joined the Army Marquart moved with him to his duty station in Germany where she learned the art of stained glass. When they returned to Ripon in 1978 she continued making stained glass selling her work at regional gift shops, donating it for charity events, and even bartering her work for dance lessons for her daughter and chiropractic care for her husband.
