Description

LeMoyne Star Block quilt. Top only. Unfinished. 53" x 72". The pattern block is an eight pointed star and the block is also called Evening Star and Pieced Star. The stars are four pieces of tan fabric and four pieces of red fabric with cream colored corners. In between the fabric blocks is a tan printed fabric. Based on the fabric quilt historian Allison Rainboth of Berlin, WI believed this quilt top was hand pieced between 1860 and 1880. The quilt top was donated to the Ripon Historical Society in 1970 by Cora Jaspers who lived at 223 Tygert St from 1948-1970. Cora's husband was a 1929 Ripon College graduate. No other information on the quilt top is known.
