Civil War cap, missing strap above visor, which is detached from cap except at 2 ends. Leather sweatband, visor and fabric of crown all show much wear and soil, but still displayable and intact enough to be identified as a Civil War cap of the type issued to enlisted men up to a sergeant major. The cap has brass buttons at each end of visor. Found with other Civil War artifacts of Walter O. Hargrave of Ripon who was a sergeant major with Co. M, 1st Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry in the Civil War. Printed on sweatband is "FULLER".
