Pair of wooden carders used by knitters and weavers to straighten fibers after sheep's fleec has been washed and is ready to make into yarn. "Certificate of Gift" form in donor, Martha Smith's donor file gives no history. Probably dates to late 19th Century as it is very similar to A89-65--1-29 Carder. Soiled and worn from use. Stamped printing on bavk of paddle partially legible and different from printing on carder A89-65-1-29. To be displayed paired with A8965-1-29 in Lawson House parlor by spinning wheel for demonstrating how a pair works.Acquisition
