Nygard is the Associate Professor Art History at Ripon College. He graduated with his master's degree and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and teaches art history as well as museum studies. An active volunteer at the Ripon Historical Society Nygard also serves its board of directors. Nygard brings his classes as well as student volunteers and student interns to the historical society. This gives the students real world learning experiences and research based learning while also benefiting the historical society. Although his collage work is shown here, his real work can be seen throughout the historical society. Under his supervision student volunteers completed story boards of the Watson Street Historic Commercial District in our library meeting room. During the summer of 2021 he supervised three Ripon College student interns who curated a new exhibit in our Lawson House museum and created a new cemetery walking tour brochure. Nygard worked with fellow board member, Caron Sisko, in creating and installing the new semi-permanent exhibit in the front two rooms of our museum. Nygard was also invaluable in assisting with this current exhibit on t h e Art and Artists of Ripon.
