This box contains a collection of pictures, genealogy, a child's scrapbook, correspondence, and general information relating to the Asa Hill family.
05/2026: Add Hazen R. Hill (1836-1903) journal written April 13, 1858- June 24, 1858. Additional sporadic penciled notes to 1869. They include computations and what looks like reminder notes for supplies. In the journal, a 21-year-old Hazen Hill recounts the daily events of his life while attending Ripon College, at the time known as Brockway College. Hazen writes about helping his father, Asa, on the family farm, working hard as a student, going swimming in the Mill Pond on hot days, working as a clerk, and selling grain. He was one of the first students at the school and it was there that he completed his education.The donor, Stephen Malbouef, bought this book in Madison at Paul's Book Store. He donated to the Historical Society when he was leaving Wisconsin for Detroit, Michigan.Collection
