Hand-painted clam shell from British Columbia, Vancouver's Island. Handwritten letter accompanying the artifact states that it was "purchased from Indians on the World's Fair grounds for ten cents, June 28, 1893, at Chicago, Ill." Belonged to donor's mother, Dolores Long.
