Portrait painting, 35" x 30" with a wide elaborate gilt frame and oval opening. Painting is an oil portrait of the shoulders and head of Harriet L. Context

Background is dark and fairly empty. Frame has applied pieces of decoration missing and has a few chips on edges. Oil portrait is dark, possibly soiled, appears intact. Harriet Horner (Mrs John Scott) was born c.1805 as Harriet Love Watson in Buckland, Prince William Co., Virginia. She died in Ripon in 1883 at age 78. She wrote the first executive act entered in the Journal of the Territorial Government in her own handwriting. She was Anne Horner Calden's great grandmother. Hung on west wall of Pedrick-Lawson House dining room - 9/03. Moved to Pickard House June 2026. The artist: "Mark Robert Harrison (9-7-1819-12-6-1894) was a British-born painter, actor, theater manager, and art teacher. He studied under multiple noted painters across Canada and the United States before reuturning to England and attending the Royal Academy of Arts. He later became known for his paintings depicting biblical and historical scene, among other subjects. He also was involved in theater as an actor and manager. Harrison moved to Wisconsin in 1849 to operate a steamboat service with his brother; after the service's failure, he remained in Wisconsin (Fond du Lac) and continued to paint until his death in 1894."
