Description

Plate, commemorative. It is a 5 1/2 " diameter china plate with a blue border and center hand painted picture of high school. Caption reads, "High School, Ripon, Wis." On back says "Wheelock Made in Germany for Henry Danielson, Ripon, Wis." Soiled, no cracks or chips, but the gold decoration is slightly worn. Probably from 1917 or earlier. School represented is the earlier High School. The donor says her grandfather was co-owner of a store with Henry Danielson on Watson St. and her mother Lola Boettcher Lueck clerked there as a young person. a Danileson grocery store was listed at 105 Watson St. in 1917 in the Wright City Directory. Henry Danielson b. 1862 in Germany came to Ripon in 1888, d. 1934 buried in Ripon. Plate probably from 1917 or earlier.
