Description

A commemorative plate. It is a 5 1/4" diameter china plate with pink colored border and blue flowers. The center has a hand painted picture with the caption, "The Dam, Ripon, Wis." Back of plate reads, "Wheelock - Made in Germany for Henry Danielson, Ripon, Wis". Soiled, no cracks or chips but wear on gilt edge and border colors. Probably from 1917 or earlier. The donor says her grandfather was co-owner of a store with Henry Danielson on Watson St. and her mother Lola Boettcher Lueck b. 1904 clerked there as a young person. A Danielson grocery store was listed at 105 Watson St. in the 1917 Wright City Directory. Henry Danielson b. 1862 in Germany, came to Ripon in 1888 d. 1934 buried in Ripon. Plate probably from 1917 or earlier.
