Scope and Content

Black and white 8x10 glossy photograph of what is believed to be the tool and die shop for Speed Queen during World War 2. On back of photo are employee names. Left to right: Louis Lemiesz, Howard Fuller, Art Troester, Floyd Thorndike, Tammer Leitz, Ed Wagner, ?, Truman Heatley. Photograph was donated by Jill Dudzinski, granddaughter of Harold Grahn. Mr. Grahn worked in the Speed Queen tool room. Unclear whether this photo was taken for the war effort or retooling back to washing machines after the war.

Context

Beginning in May 1942 Speed Queen (Barlow & Seelig Mfg.) ceased building washing machines and retooled to manufacture 20mm shell casings for the war effort.
