T2025.1.10Description
Artist Statement: This assemblage tryptic represents the evolution of passenger train travel in Ripon.
The first panel features a historic photo that appeared in the 1965 Centennial/Progress issue of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.
The center photo is the photogenic Harry Potter train, photo taken as it crossed a viaduct in the Scottish Highlands. I placed a carefully-ripped page from the 1965 newspaper issue over the photo. The train is breaking through time, from the past into the now.
The right panel features recent photos of the railroad track near the millpond - the track is long abandoned and overgrown with weeds.
The rusty iron piece on the left is part of the old track along the Ripon millpond, and the railroad nail is real. (However, I bought it from a resale shop downtown.)Context
