A four-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a tavern sign with the proprietor name, J. Prentis, and a founding date of 1801. A medallion features a profile of a woman representing liberty. The word “LIBERTY” appears above the profile in a red band with thirteen stars representing the first states of the union.
This print is listed in the January 1960 Country Prints price list in a choice of antique birch or flat black frames, and appears in the c.1960 brochure “Country Prints in Frames Designed by Robert Darr Wert”; see images. It was offered as a single, double or triple with two other tavern signs, Angell 916-4, and Spencer 916-5.Made/Created
