Print: Patience Tree 927-2Description
A silkscreen print on linen depicting a conventionalized fruiting tree topped with a birdhouse and two birds. A Pennsylvania “Dutch” couple relaxes below the tree. At the base of the composition is a maxim from Poor Richard’s Almanac by Benjamin Franklin, “Patience is a tree whose root is bitter, but the fruit is very sweet.” The composition is finished with a printed border.
This print is listed on the January 1960 Country Prints price list in a choice of antique birch or flat black frames, and appears in the c.1960 brochure “Country Prints in Frames Designed by Robert Darr Wert”. It was also available as an unframed wallhanging, c.1959; see “Wallhangings” entries.Made/Created
