Gift Greeting, Christmas: Norwegian Christmas (TK)Description
A six-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a scene representative of Norwegian holiday traditions.
The shock of wheat on the tall pole is a julenek, a treat put out for the birds at Christmas; see web link. A folk belief is that the more birds come to eat, the better next year’s crop will be. The julenek has come to symbolize generosity. Below are two reindeer, native to Norway, with a pair of children standing before a barn-like structure holding hands. Above is a singing angel. At left, a tall evergreen is capped with a yellow five-point star. At right, two birds fly holding evergreen branches, a symbol of the hope of spring.
This is a Gift Greeting, Country Prints line of unmounted prints available in cardstock note folders with envelopes for gift giving or mailing.
