Tile: Poor Richard’s, Peace (TK) T-44Description
A four-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting an early American farmer in a buckskin coat harvesting wheat. The moon and stars indicate the long hours of harvest time. The composition supports the maxim from Poor Richard’s Almanac, “A harvest of peace from a seed of contentment.”
This tile appears in the brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Prints Tiles”, c.1960; see images.
Though this tile design was first produced c.1959, this example is printed on the thinner tile body used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio from 1962 onward.
This is one of a series of at least fourteen tiles featuring maxims from Poor Richard’s Almanac.Made/Created
