Description

A five-color silkscreen overglaze print on a white glazed tile blank depicting a woman seated in a spindle-back chair making hand-dipped candles at a fireplace hearth. Scene features copper and brass tubs with iron handles, a cast iron trivet, a wrought iron andiron, and two spindle back chairs supporting a rod with hardening candles. A matching wallhanging was also produced; see images. These items were available singly and in gift sets. This tile design was originally produced in the late 1950’s. This c.1962 example has been recolored to match the Candle Making 265 wallhanging; see images. This tile appears in the brochures “Country Prints by Robert Darr Wert and Neighbors”, c.1963 and c.1966; see images.
