Description

A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record. A placemat with a three-color silkscreen print depicting Wert’s interpretation of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art motifs in rectangular fields at left and right, with five rows of calligraphic scrolls between. The napkin bears a one-color print of green scrolls to match the placemat. This is one of the earliest designs produced by Country Prints within its first two years while located in Northfield, Massachussets. It was available in four colorways: red earth, ochre, green, or salt glaze. The design and colors were later updated, c.1951. This design listed on a c.1949 Country Prints packing slip.
