Name/Title
Branding, Packaging: Pack Board, c.1963Description
A two-color silkscreen print on single-ply clay-coated chipboard describing the Country Prints enterprise owned and operated by artist Robert Darr Wert.
Text describes the geographical location, ethos behind Wert’s work, employment of and camaraderie with neighbors he employed, and how and where the work was produced on his farm. In contrast to the more common brown pack board, this design briefly mentions the “conservation principles” used to bring fallow farmland back to life (early organic farming) and some of what is produced there.
Designed and used as an integral part of Country Prints packaging, pack boards provided physical support for packaged sets of placemats, napkins, tablecloths, and sewing kits (this example is part of a chair cushion kit) while informing customers of the ethos and care that went into their purchase.Made/Created
