Name/Title

Tile: Pinks, Hens (TK)

Description

A five-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting five hens atop and around three sculpted topiary shrubs. The use of an additive off-white underglaze color to define plant details is unusual in Wert’s work. His tile designs needing white are usually cut to printed the white tile body. This is one of a set of four tiles, only three of which have been documented. This set was also produced as framed prints and unmounted Gift Greetings; see images.
