Description

A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record. A three-color silkscreen printed placemat on light gray cotton crash with a one-color print on a matching square napkin. Placemat imagery depicts tall flowering potted plants rendered in Wert’s interpretation of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art. The potted plants flank a rectangular field bordered with a wavy rickrack style line. The napkin print is a series of five nested square borders. This design was produced on off-white and light gray cotton crash as well as natural linen (see separate entries). This design is an update of one by the same name first produced c.1949. It is listed on a c.1951 Country Prints packing slip.
