Description

A two-color silkscreen underglaze print on a round white tile blank inset within a turned walnut cheese & cracker server by Woodbury’s Woodware, Inc., of Shelburne VT. A carved walnut cheeseknife accompanies the server. The tile is a variant of Wert’s “Good Morning” tile with the text removed; see images. A matching placemat set was also produced; see images.

This tile is printed on the thicker tile base used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio before 1962. Tile designed by Wert and produced by Ceramo Studio, hand-turned server produced by Woodbury’s Woodware, Inc., of Burlington VT.

Inscription/Signature/Marks

Front: “wert by hand” in brown glaze, left side of tile face. Back: “Woodbury’s Woodware, Hand Turned, ……ington VT …….” (…… indicates illegible portions of imprint), along with printed adhesive labels for Woodbury’s Woodware and retailer Elizabeth’s on the Green.
