Name/Title

Tile: Poor Richard’s, Fine Linen (TK)

Description

A four-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting a woman in a yellow calico dress holding a candle and a gold coin. A maxim from Poor Richard’s Almanac forms the border, “Fine linen, girls and gold so bright chuse not to take by candle light” Beyond the candle and gold coin is a wall hanging in blue labeled “POOR RICHARD’S ALMANAC”, with a figure wearing a hat and holding a scale. Around the figure are zodiac symbols. This may represent an undocumented towel/wallhanging produced by Country Prints. This is one of a series of at least fourteen tiles featuring maxims from Poor Richard’s Almanac.
