Kitchen, Apron: Calico Kitchen 425, Early BlueDescription
Note: Temp. photo
A three-color silkscreen print on dyed teal linen and off-white linen depicting kitchen implements in silhouette superimposed with Wert’s interpretation of calico fabric prints.
The body of the apron and waist tie is of teal dyed linen and is screen printed with a black border of small circles alternating with larger circles, each containing a small cross or plus sign. At center is a field of black circles each containing dots.
The patch pockets to either side of the central field are silkscreen printed in three colors on bleached white linen, the teal ink carefully matched to the dye of the apron panel and ties.
This apron is described in a c.1955 Country Prints price list, “Calico pots on solid Early Blue or Spice Brown.”Made/Created
