Description

A placemat with a three-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting early American wooden ware on shelves with gathered fabric valances. A matching napkin has not been documented. Along with several other prints, this design was a gift from Robert Darr Wert to the UConn Historic Costume and Textile Museum in 1953; see web link. Though from as early as 1952, this design was featured with a matching napkin in the art education journal Design in 1956; see images.
