Name/Title
Towel, Wallhanging: Motif Gourmet, Bottles 282, OrangeDescription
A four-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting overlapping silhouettes of hand blown glass bottles. The composition is punctuated with stalks of flowering dill weed.
This print is from Country Prints’ “Motif Gourmet” collection, a decidedly design-forward line of modern compositions that steps away from Wert’s typical Americana themes; a highly stylized composition of type and imagery typical of the 1960’s.
This print appears in the brochure “Country Prints by Robert Darr Wert and Neighbors”, c.1966; see images. The brochure states this design was available in orange or turquoise colorways (with orange or turquoise edge binding). With its black edge binding, this example deviates from the c.1966 brochure offerings. The orange and turquoise colorways have not been documented.Made/Created
