Napkin, Cocktail: Penn Dutch 311Description
A set of eight three-color silkscreen prints on lightweight cotton cocktail napkins with Wert’s interpretation of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art. The fringe is colored by the silkscreen process.
This set appears on c.1949 and c.1951 Country Prints packing slips. It is one of the earliest designs developed by Wert in Country Prints’ first location in Northfield, Massachusetts. Potholders with Northfield tags that match two of these prints have been documented; see “Kitchen Accessories”. This set was produced in Gill, Massachusetts, shortly after the move to Country Prints’ new, larger barn workshop.Made/Created
