A pair of five-screen/six-color silkscreen prints depicting items from an early American kitchen illustrating two maxims from Poor Richard’s Almanac:
“A Fat Kitchen, A Lean Will”
This print depicts meats, breads, and herbs amongst cast iron pots, a copper kettle, a butter churn, a glass demijohn, a spice box with multiple drawers, and other kitchen tools.
“Much Virtue in Herbs, Little in Man”
This print depicts fresh herbs growing from a trough, a copper pot, and a cast iron kettle, amongst others, while dried herbs hang from nails above.
First produced in the late 1950’s, this pair of prints appears in the c.1960 brochure “Country Prints in Frames Designed by Robert Darr Wert”; see images.
