A five-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting scenes from the night of Jesus’ birth. At top, an angel surrounded by dark blue stars holds a hand over a shepherd’s head while pointing downward toward the holy family. At the base of the composition, Mary, Joseph and one of the magi look upon the baby Jesus sitting upright in a hay-filled manger.
This is a reworking of a c.1960 wallhanging titled “Christmas Story No. 260”; see separate entry. This example includes Helvetica type in the credit lines and was likely produced after Wert’s death in 1966 in an effort to bring some of his older work back into the Country Prints product line.Made/Created
