Description

A tile with a three-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile black depicting items of daily use in a Colonial kitchen. Items are shown in outline and silhouette and are composed as a collage. This design appears in the c.1955 brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Print Tiles”, and was included in a 1957 article about Country Print tiles in the art journal Design; see images. A matching placemat set was also produced; see images.

Design, screen production, and mixing of colored underglazes performed at the Country Prints workshop, Gill, MA. Screen printing of underglaze colors, clear glaze, firing and finishing by Ceramo Studio, NYC. This example is printed on the thicker tile base used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio prior to 1962.
