Print: Spinning Wheels 912-2Description
A six-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting a domestic scene in an early American kitchen. Set before a large cooking fireplace and oven, high back settles of different profiles stand at either side. Large and small spinning wheels sit in the foreground along with a tall ratcheted candle jack, while footed cast iron pots and a radiator rest on the hearth. A painting of a port scene spans the width of the fireplace.
This print appears in the c.1955 brochure “Country Prints in Frames” and the Spring 1958 Country Prints price list as Chair Hearth 912-1 and Spinning Wheels 912-2. Later, on a 1958 Country Prints packing slip, the two are paired as Chair Hearth/Spinning Wheels 912-1/2. In the c.1960 brochure “Country Prints in Frames Designed by Robert Darr Wert” they are paired as Hearth & Wheel 912-1; see images.Made/Created
