Name/Title
Towel, Calendar: Kitchen Blessing U505, 1967Description
A four-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting a woman in a country kitchen with tools and implements needed for cooking bordering a calendar for 1967. A kitchen blessing begins at the top of the composition and ends below the calendar, “Bless this kitchen to thy glory - and my family’s good. Help me to: Love this room as well as those it serves, To provide welcoming order, beauty and true nourishment: and to find the joy to create and the strength to be patient - Amen”.
The empty calendar days are filled with quirky phrases related to each month. For instance, February, “Longer days, colder nights”.
The artwork for the upper half of the calendar towel is adapted from the towel/wallhanging Good Coffee U250; see images.
This calendar towel appears in the brochure “1967 Country Print Calendar Towels”; see images
A matching tile and Plowshares Kitchen Pocket wallhanging were also produced; see images.Made/Created
