Name/Title

Tile: Yankee Doodles T-8, Color Variant

Description

A four-screen/five-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting an early American bottle, a weathervane, and cooking implements composed as a modern collage. This tile is missing the brick red colored overprint seen in the second tile below, which affects the color of the coffee pot, the rooster weathervane and the small pot in the upper left corner. The omission also leaves out the wood grain on the handle of the mezzaluna chopper. This c.1956 design is an update to the c.1955 Yankee Doodles T-8; see separate entry. This tile appears in the c.1956 brochure “Country Prints Tiles designed by Robert Darr Wert”. A matching placemat set was also produced; see images.
