Name/Title
Kitchen, Apron: Motif Gourmet, Gourmet 280 or 284-1, TurquoiseDescription
A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record.
An apron with a four-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting herbs, cheese, scallions, onions, cooking implements, and the words, “Mozzarella”, “Garlic”, and “Rosemary”.
This apron is from Country Prints’ “Motif Gourmet” product line, a decidedly design-forward collection of modern compositions that steps away from his usual Americana themes; a highly stylized composition of type and imagery typical of the 1960’s.
This apron is designed to coordinate with two Motif Gourmet towel/wallhangings: Herbs 280 and Cheese 284. Other coordinating kitchen accessories were offered as well; see images.
This apron appears in the brochure “Country Prints by Robert Darr Wert and Neighbors”, c.1966; see images.
Edges and seams are finished in turquoise bias tape to match the turquoise textile ink. Waist and ties are of a matching lightweight cotton.Made/Created
