Description

A round tile with a three-color silkscreen overglaze print on a glazed white tile blank depicting a cherry tree and the Japanese proverb, “In the hum of the market there is money, but under the cherry tree, rest.” This design was first produced c.1960. However, this example is printed on the thinner tile body used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio c.1962 onward.

This tile is printed on the thinner tile base used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio from 1962 onward. Design, screen production, and mixing of colored overglazes performed at the Country Prints workshop, Gill, MA. Screen printing of overglaze colors, firing and finishing by Ceramo Studio, NYC.
