Kitchen, Apron: Happy Heart U330 (Earlier Version)Description
An apron with a four-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting Wert’s interpretation of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art. “May You Have a Happy Heart” appears in six hearts across the lower portion of the composition. An angel on the patch pocket pushes a tulip out of its way while holding a red heart.
This apron was part of a coordinated set of kitchen accessories produced to match: tile, toaster cover, oven mitt, coffee can cover, bottle cover, etc.; see images.
This design appears in the brochure “Country Prints by Robert Darr Wert and Neighbors”, c.1963; see images.
Edges are finished with green bias tape to match the apron ties and the dark green ink in the print.Made/Created
